java - Develop attractive gui in linux -

i'm newbie in world of linux development. have used linux os in past (ubuntu, sabayon , gentoo little time). i'm .net c# developer , have done android app.

my company, new project, ask me develop linux application in java attractive gui. i' ve searched around on net , have found old topics this. have read swing but.. swing has born in 1996 , little old tecnology.

i have read vaadin web app , cannot permit use utility, read folders ecc.

someone can suggest me can use? , editor use design of gui? thank answers , excuse me bad english.

if want content rich (ui wise) applications, should take @ javafx since should offer better functionality older swing counter part.

as far ide's, have used netbeans on linux distributions have owned (including sabayon) , should provide gui interface builder (much designer in visual studio). can take @ this netbeans page more directions on how use netbeans build ui application.

i used pyinstaller create standalone exe file pyqt project. did not use single file option because exe created single file option takes long open. therefore, pyinstaller created dist folder contains bunch of files including program.exe file. create setup.exe file place contents of dist folder in program directory , create shortcut in start menu , on desktop. want super simple user. maybe setup.exe files when download program cnet. found inno-setup, looks promising. however, not know if there special considerations because program standalone program create python/pyqt program. thanks! have experience task? there program using task not know about? inno-setup or nsis easiest use. tell them files include , put them , create nice installer you. wrote short tutorial on experiences using innosetup might find helpful: http://www.blog.pythonlibrary.org/2008/08/27/packaging-wxpymail-for-distribution/ note tutorial based around wxpython app wrote, concepts same.
